The Objective

Bank of Melbourne approached Present Company Included to develop a gift oriented to their home loan customers and, as a local institution, the bank wanted a gift that supported Victorian businesses.

Known as the Settlement Hamper, we designed a gift that would be homely yet refined, uncomplicated yet something their customers would treasure and keep. And we wanted it to achieve two aims: to welcome new customers to the bank and at the same time to celebrate the purchase of a new home.

The Strategy

Our solution was the gift of a locally-produced boutique wine, including two beautiful, globe wine glasses to go along with it. Moreover, as a campaign to support Victorian businesses, the gift came with a surprise bonus: the wine we sourced came from Mount Avoca Estate in the Pyrenees, proudly Victorian, proudly organic and, as it happened, a proud Bank of Melbourne customer!

Our greatest challenge was shipping. How to protect an impeccable bottle of wine and two delicate glasses from damage, especially given that these settlement hampers were to be shipped individual addresses throughout Victoria.

The Result

We developed special packaging for this hamper: a box strong enough to support a 750 ml bottle plus extras, and included a protective soft foam insert. No matter where the gift was to be shipped to, the wine and glasses were kept firmly in place and would arrive without damage. Also crafted was a wrap to go around the hamper box, which prominently featured the Bank of Melbourne’s logo and branding, “If you have the will, we have the way.”
